About Us

Fire & Safety Outfitters began designing and manufacturing firefighter and medical gear bags in the year 2000. These bags were proprietary in nature and were primarily sold directly to the end user. Over the next three years the popularity of our bags grew along with our product line.

With the continued growth of our bag line we added an additional warehouse in 2005 located in Los Angeles, CA, to assist in the inventory of those products. This allowed us to ship virtually any-sized order within 48 hours of receipt. We know of no one else in the industry with such a quick delivery time to their customers.

In early 2006, Lightning X Products was formed as a subsidiary of Fire & Safety Outfitters. Lightning X would continue to produce the finest fire and medical bags and market through new distribution channels worldwide. The remainder of 2006 proved to be a huge year of growth for Lightning X, so much that we had once again out-grown our facilities.

In 2010 we made the decision to concentrate solely on bags and that led to our relocation to Belmont, NC in April of 2011.  We closed our retail store front and now work directly with dealers.  We have 6 rep groups representing our bag line throughout the US and parts of Canada.  We continue to grow with record speed, introducing new products as fast as possible.  We welcome ideas from our customers.
